Call for Volunteers – WordCamp London 2017 #wcldn

Each year the success of WordCamp London relies on a brilliant team of volunteers who kindly take on the wide variety of roles and responsibilities required to make WordCamp London the best it can be.

WordCamp London 2017 is no exception – and we need you.

Speakers, sponsors, attendees, and volunteers, gather for WordCamp London 2016 #WCLDN

Yes, YOU!

WordCamps are created by passionate, eager and reliable people. If that sounds like you, then step up and let us know you’re interested in joining our backstage team.

If you’re considering becoming an organiser for future WordCamps, volunteering will give you hands-on experience with how the event is run. If you’re new to WordCamps, volunteering can be a great way to just get stuck in with the whole ethos of the WordPress community.

Check out some of the roles and responsibilities below so you get a better idea of how you could help make this event a success:

  • Building Volunteer Monitor – someone on tap in each building for volunteers to refer to if necessary. Answer attendees’ questions about the schedule, the venue, etc, and help direct traffic to the various conference rooms.
  • Registration  – Check in registered attendees and hand out name tags.
  • Swag – Give out WordCamp t-shirts and swag in the afternoon.
  • Happiness Bar – Help other WordPress users with their sites.
  • Room Monitor – Ensure room doesn’t get overcrowded and prevent noisy door slamming when people are entering and leaving the room.
  • Time Keeper – Work with the MCs, video people, speakers, and everyone else working in the room to keep things running smoothly and on time!
  • Mic Runner – During question and answer sessions, run the microphones around the room to wherever the next question is.
  • Green Room Monitor – Keep a watch over the room where speakers and volunteers leave their stuff.
  • Lunch and Dinner Monitors/Ushers – ensuring order is kept in the dining halls!
  • Contributor Day – general helpers – reception, swag preparation.
  • Signage – early on the Saturday morning we need a team of volunteers to put up signs around the venue (there will be breakfast pastries and coffee, etc provided).

As a volunteer at WordCamp London, you will:

  • Receive a complimentary volunteers ticket for the entire event
  • Get an inside look at the planning stages of the conference
  • Be an essential part of the event on the day
  • Have the opportunity to meet speakers from all over the world
  • Be invited to a volunteers’ dinner
  • Receive an exclusive, volunteer-only t-shirt

Please note: we’d ideally like you to commit a minimum of half a day over the two days.
